Happy New Year

We wish you a happy new year and a great 2012! A big thanks to all our contributors, without whose research and writing this website would not be possible. Many thanks to our visitors: students, enthusiasts, and teachers from all over the world. And another thanks to all those educators who refer their students to this humble website. 2011 has been quite a ride for Ancient History Encyclopedia: The site not only turned 3 years old, but we have also reached close to 2,000 daily visitors (with a peak of over 5,000 on one day). We’re listed in the Google Chrome Webstore as one of the top education apps. We have created partnerships with other sites, and every month over 130,000 pages are viewed by our visitors.

You can now see visual timelines, include a bibliography and illustration for definitions, and even include articles published elsewhere on the internet. The peer review system is taking off, so that we make sure we offer the best content possible. And by now we have a lot to offer: 255 definitions, 235 articles, 448 illustrations, and many more timeline entries, keywords, and references! Our content is found in course readers, homework assignments, and class material in schools and universities across the globe. Clearly, we’re doing something very useful, and we’re doing it well.

Hopefully, the next year will bring even more good news for AHE and the ancient history community in general! Let’s look forward to more ancient history in 2012!
